This training video walks you through how to use Scale to Win, including logging in, navigating the platform, and making calls. It’s a helpful companion to watch before attending the live training before the phone bank.
If you’re having trouble logging in to Zoom, go to your confirmation email and find the section labeled “How to join this event.” Click the link that says “Click here to join the call.” You may be taken to a Zoom registration form. Just fill that out, and you should be good to go!
If you’re a returning phone banker, a.k.a a Scale To Win Pro, who’s familiar with the Scale to Win dialer and how our phone banks work, you don’t need to sit through the full training. But we do still ask you to join the Zoom, just head to the Scale to Win Pros Room once you’re in. That way, you can get support if you need it and start calling right away.
You can disconnect your Zoom audio by clicking the dropdown arrow next to the Audio button (the microphone icon), then clicking “Leave Computer Audio” and you can rejoin audio later by clicking in the same place.
Make sure that you select the “Make calls using your computer + phone audio” option when connecting to the dialer. If you selected a different option, start over and make sure you connect using that specific option.
If you connected using the “Make calls using your computer + phone audio” option, check the volume on the device you’re using to make calls.
Absolutely! You don’t need any prior experience or subject knowledge. We’ll set you up with a clear, prewritten script so you’ll know exactly what to say. You’ll also receive detailed talking points by email in advance, and the dialer includes a handy sidebar packed with quick, easy-to-reference facts. Everything you need will be right at your fingertips!
Yes, absolutely! The dialer will assign you a phone number with a local area code, so your calls will look familiar to the people you’re reaching. Plus, these issues affect all of us, no matter where we live. And unless you bring it up, voters won’t know (or ask) where you’re calling from. What matters most is that you’re showing up to help.
This is a click-thru dialer, which means the script will only appear once you’ve confirmed you’re talking to the right person. We highly recommend starting every phone bank shift with the ‘Preview Script’ option, which is the first option at the top of your screen when you log in to Scale to Win.
You should see a “do not call list” option on the first screen of the script, where you confirm you’re speaking to the right person! Choosing this option will remove the voter from our list.
A tablet or iPad should work, but please check that you can follow all the setup steps we’re outlining.
Yep! A landline and Google Voice work just fine. As long as you can make outgoing calls, it will work.
We don’t recommend using the “Call with this device” option because it does not work when you are already connected to Zoom. If you’d like to disconnect from Zoom to use the “call with this device” option, that’s your choice! We just aren’t able to provide support for this option since you won’t be on Zoom.
You should say you’re a volunteer with Indivisible Action.
No, your information is not viewable by the voters you’re calling. They’ll see a phone number that begins with an area code from their state.
No, we are not leaving voicemails! You should see an “Answering Machine” button on the first page of the script. Click that to end the call.
That means you haven’t chosen the correct option to connect to the dialer, so you need to try again. Completely leave the dialer, re-enter the link, and choose the third option “call with this device + phone for audio” to make calls.
This will vary by device, but generally, there is a mute button on your computer. It typically looks like a megaphone with a line through it. You can either hit that or leave Zoom to make your calls. Be sure to come back ten minutes before the end of the phone bank call to hear the results of our time together!
It will only show up if you’ve selected “Make calls using your computer + phone audio.”
We completely understand. The great thing about Indivisible is that we have many ways to jump in and get involved. Visit our Take Action section of the site to learn more about all the other ways you can get involved.
That’s great! This info will vary from state to state. For each unique phone bank, you’ll find this specific info located in the sidebar section of the phone bank.
The information below is for all voters and can be shared with voters, no matter what state we’re calling into. Feel free to write this info down, and it will be in the sidebar of every phone bank.
